Marayah is a Baylor Bear! :-)

Hello! First, I would like to thank you for taking the time to click on Marayah's GoFundMe link to read her story. She is an amazing girl, and I am thankful for the opportunity to present her before you in hopes that you all will contribute to her cause. I’ll do my best to keep it brief, while also being as detailed as possible so that you know exactly what her need is…

Marayah is a senior at Yorba Linda High School, she’s also your favorite face painting extraordinaire! She has an academic GPA of 4.17, and she has been accepted to Baylor University!!! GO BEARS!!! She was accepted into the Bachelor of Fine Arts program with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting, as well as the Baylor Honors College with an emphasis in Interdisciplinary Core studies! If you would like more information on these two programs, please see the following links:

Bachelor of Fine Arts: Painting https://www.baylor.edu/art/index.php?id=928356

I am writing you all today to ask for your help! Marayah, her father, and I have worked tirelessly to put together the funds for her education over the next four years. Here is what we have accomplished:

Scholarships

Founders’ Gold Scholarship – $44,000 (we hope to increase this to $179,368 after she retakes her SAT in June. She is only 90 points away! This will decrease our Parent PLUS loan debt to $0.00!!! AND entirely wipe out any student loan debt to be incurred by Marayah!)

Need Based Baylor Scholarship – $68,440

Baylor Honors College Scholarship – application pending

Grants

Pell Grant – $16,980

Student Loans

Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Loans – $22,000

Parent Loans

Direct Parent PLUS Loan – $110,872

Marayah’s Cost of Attendance over the next 4 years will be $262,292. Her financial aid package totals $262,292!

We have achieved our financial aid goals by finding funds to cover 100% of her cost of attendance. Praise GOD!!! The unfortunate part about financial aid in the U.S. is that students cannot receive more money than what their cost of attendance allows regarding scholarships, grants, and student loans. This includes Federal work study. Any scholarships received after today will only decrease our loan responsibilities—not give us anything extra. So, with that said, here is our current need:

Acceptance deposit – $500 (this expense is needed BEFORE May 1st for Marayah to have access to the Honors College housing application, and to pick her room. Students not in the Honors College have a deadline of May 1st.)

Line Camp registration – $125 – needed by May 1st (spots fill up FAST! We are unable to register her for line camp until we pay her $500 deposit!)

June 17-22 | Travel, lodging, and car rental for Orientation and Line Camp – $2250 – needed by June 1st (these expenses include only Marayah and me. Her father says he’ll stay home and work to make as much money as possible for the next expense in August…)

August 20-25 | Travel, lodging, car rental, dorm supplies for move-in day and Welcome Week – $1700 – needed by August 1st (this expense includes Marayah, her father, and me to get her to campus, shop for the essentials for her dorm, move her in, and say our goodbyes.)

Total Need: $4575 (the extra $425 will be used to cover GoFundMe fees, and food/gas on our trips to Texas)

I said I would keep this brief, so I will not take up much more of your time. I would just like to say that I am appreciative of you reading this far. Marayah is a great kid and an even GREATER student. She has worked so hard to get to this point—taking honors and AP classes throughout her high school career, and taking an accelerated path to college. Even though I encouraged her to relax her senior year, she refused. In STEM, she has completed Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Engineering in THREE high school years! She has completed THREE years of Honors Spanish, and she is currently enrolled in AP Studio Art and AP English Literature. Marayah has reached higher than a lot of high school seniors, and she deserves thee very best education. She, her father, and I know that she will achieve her goals at Baylor University. As a single mom of two teenagers, who has the proudest ego when it comes to ANYTHING related to getting them further in life to achieve their goals, I am very HUMBLY asking for your help. Dannaca never asks for money. Dannaca never asks for anything anymore. LIFE has humbled me. My CHILDREN have humbled me. GOD has humbled me. And at the end of the day, my daughter deserves my humility. Please help me to help her achieve her dreams of attending a GREAT school that is God-centered, and will give her everything she needs. Thank you again for your time! Love, peace, and blessings to you.
