Hi Everybody, I would like to introduce you to my friend Lisa-Michele Talamantes. We met decades ago as second sopranos in Agapé’s International Choir under the direction of the most amazing Rickie Byars.
Lisa-Michele is a Woman Warrior of the first order. She was diagnosed with ovarian cancer ten years ago. She has undergone six rounds each of 11 different chemotherapies and is still living her life. She lives independently with her dog Mookie.
Three years ago, she was in hospice and many friends went to St. John’s Hospital to say goodbye. Lisa-Michele was incoherent and has no recollection of those days. When her brother David arrived from Utah and saw that she was incapacitated by huge amounts of pain narcotics. He asked that she be taken off the meds, given IV nourishment and allowed to say goodbye to those she loves.
And guess what? Lisa Michelle is still here!!!! As in the Biblical story, Lisa-Michele “took up her bed and walked”. She is a Miracle and a Woman Warrior.
I am raising funds for her daily expenses so she can continue to live on her own while supporting her beloved pet Mookie. Please sponsor me as I do a 26.2 mile Marathon Walk for Lisa-Michele, and to raise awareness of Ovarian Cancer and female healthcare.
I will be walking 26.2 miles from Dodger stadium to Santa Monica Pier on Saturday October 26th. Please sponsor me a dollar a mile (or more) which is $26.20 but any amount above or below is appreciated with much love. On the day of my marathon walk, I will post updates on Instagram and Facebook.
I am also honoring the memory of my beautiful sister Dr. Martha Soto, who passed from breast cancer in 2007 at the age of 42. I miss her every day.
Thank you for your kindness, love and generosity. We love you.
Peace and Blessings.
