My name is Olivia for those that don’t know me. I have recently (for about 8 months now) become a runner thanks in part to my brother, Jordan, and his inspiring story to run the London Marathon last year. I, too, have decided to run a marathon! Please read my story below and support me with my mission.
I’ve always ran and played sports, but I never ran with the passion I have now. Running has been a huge help in my life for the past 8 months, something that helps me escape life and be able to be free and grow stronger. For those that may not know, I am recently divorced, something I wish for no young woman to have to go through or any woman or anybody for that matter. It’s not only mentally difficult, but also physically challenging. The pain and hurt you go through asking yourself, why me? What did I do wrong? Am I not a good enough wife? In the end I started to realize, it’s not me, I did everything I was meant to and loved him continually. Running taught me not to give up, it taught me I could better myself, for myself, and it taught me that my life was just beginning. I want to be a role model for all women, young and old. Those suffering from divorce, weight problems, loneliness, loosing someone, anything any woman might be going through, that life does go on. You can get through it and you will. You can do anything you set your mind to and you should never give up on yourself. 8 months ago I thought my life was ending. All I ever wanted in life was to be a wife and a mum. I shed hours, days of tears, starved myself, and for what, he had no interest in me anymore, at a snap of a finger my husband turned his back to me. I’m running this marathon for all women out there and in the next month will be raising money for a charity close to my heart and my family, Tree of Life Ministries.
Tree of Life is a nonprofit organization dedicated to forever changing the lives of the poor and needy in our local community. This includes providing Food, Life-skills, Shelter, Healthcare, and Relief to those of whom in need. Their objective is to provide a Hand Up and not a handout.
I know first hand what it means to receive this kind of help and I want to make sure women in our local community know that Tree of Life Ministries is there for them, too, and help is available.
Every penny raised will be donated to Tree of Life Ministries. Every donation will give me motivation in my training up until my marathon on April 8th in Reston and also huge motivation during my race. I will be able to think about who I’m running for and what I’m running for.
Friends, please consider donating to my fundraising campaign for Tree of Life Ministries and ultimately, for others that have been, are in, or perhaps might be in a similar position I was in.
Thank you. May God bless each of you for your support.
