Hello my name is Dereck and I am raising funds for a fellow Deputy and friend, Matt Lynn. He has and is still battaling stage IV cancer.  I am running my first Marathon, January 14, 2018, to raise funds for his treatment and expenses due to being out of work for almost a year. 
     Matt is a 17 year veteran of the PIma County Sheriff's Department. He has worked patrol, directed patrol, multiple years in the Mental Health unit, and above all has run the Defensive Tactics instruction classes for new recruits for that last 11 years. His instruction has helped Deputies stay safe on the street countless times. His dedication to service and self sacrifice are above reproach.     
     Matt has a wife and two children. His dedication to his work transfers over to his family life where he spends some of his free time assisting and coaching baseball and softball.  On the street, we back each other up on calls on a daily basis, and right now he needs back up dealing with this fight. He was diagnosed with stage IV Hodgkins's Lymphoma. Matt and his wife have both missed countless days of work and have been down to a one income household for the past year due to Matt going throuh Chemotherapy.   Assistance with treatment costs and living expenses that come with having a family of four, would be much appreciated. All dontations will be directly given to Matt and his family to assist with medical bills, treatments, and missed work. 
      Matt has spent a life of serving the community and training future generations. Please help me in assisting his family in this time of need.
