Marathon for Children's Transplant Unit

Hi everyone!
As many of you know, Lianna and I moved to Ankara, Turkey right after our wedding. It’s been an extraordinary privilege to explore this country and befriend so many of its wonderful people since then. Our time here has also reminded us why we’ve chosen to serve the Canadian public and why it is so important to give back.
My program assistant and best friend in Ankara, Ovul, is very involved in charitable programs here and last month through a charity fundraising event we raised almost $2000 CAD for the children’s bone marrow transplant unit at our local hospital, Hacettepe University Children’s Hospital. Unfortunately, Turkey’s economy has seen rough seas these last couple of years and due to the depreciation of the Lira many vital institutions are struggling to service some of the country’s neediest. With the money we raised last time we were able to donate new stethoscopes, a portable toilet, penlights, and other critical items. Lianna and I have been proud to give back and will continue to do so with our remaining time in this great country.
This June I will run the Stockholm Marathon in support of children’s transplant unit at Haceteppe University Hospital. The doctors there have identified that their air conditioning system is broken and not scrubbing the air well enough, which is leading to infections for patients in long term care with them. With your help we can raise enough money to provide these kids and their families with a cleaner, safer environment for them to spend some of their direst moments.
Lianna and I are hoping to raise $2500 CAD. We are covering all the expenses of running the Marathon and any money donated will go directly to helping out the hospital. We’d really appreciate anything you can give - every dollar will count.
