Maragle Home Lost in Bush Fire

Donation protected
Ron & Kathy Costello were given little to no warning of the bush fire roaring towards Tumbarumba in the early morning of New Years Eve.  Like many others in the Maragle area, reluctantly they grabbed what items they could and fled into town at Tumbarumba, leaving their peaceful home amongst the Australian bushland.  The home built by the hands of Ron and his brother Nev.

New Years Day, the road was opened and they returned to find their home gutted from the bush fire.  Peter, an amazingly brave neighbour took on the fire alone, saving his home and attempted to save the Costello's.  Unfortunately the main house was gutted, all farm equipment, leaving a detached guest room, a bath house and their berries and fruit plantation burnt but standing.  Thank you PETER!

Now with no electricity, no water for their plants, no telecommunications, they need to find a way to process this loss.

Both are in retirement age, but continue to service the Tumbarumba and Wagga community as Nurses.

What a horrific birthday gift for Mum on New Years day.

Please help us help our family rebuild.

Once service is established we will update this page with photo's of the property and share with you the tragedy.  Mum took this picture as she evacuated their home.  Thoughts and prayers to other families, businesses and properties along Allawah Road, Maragle.
