We are Manzanita Community Elementary School in Oakland, California. We want to ensure that our students have the best school experience possible. Coach Matthew's job is at risk and we need him at our school!
We are so fortunate to have a staff that is actively learning about anti-bias and anti-racist education. We, ALSO, need to continue having a diverse staff. We need your help! In order to keep one of our most valued coaches, Coach Matthew, we need to raise $50,000. The money will go to making sure his position is paid for, as well as, provide other resources to our TK-5th students and families!
So WHY should you donate?
Coach Matthew wears many hats! First, he is an alumni of our elementary school and has chosen to come back to this community and be a mentor! Next, Coach Matt runs a youth leadership program. He mentors students in conflict resolution skills, how to be leaders, and restorative justice practices. These students help others with finding an engaging game during recess and solving conflicts that arise. Third, Coach Matthew runs one of our physical education programs. Teaching kids how to play games, practice their motor skills, how to be a good sport, and have fun! He is often found on the yard during recess teaching kids new games or playing games with them! Finally, Coach Matt is influential in meditation practices at our school. Often going to classrooms to help promote mindfulness and also assist students who may be struggling during the day. Coach Matthew is a huge part of the successes at our school and it would be hard to lose him.
