URGENT HELP REQUIRED!
Viewers beware: Distressing images.
Loving and experienced horse homes are needed!
This is a plea for help on behalf of these ponies and horses that are running out of time.
Due to the ongoing drought, it is the end of the line for these beautiful beings. The owner has no option now other than to shoot these gorgeous creatures to save them the trauma of being trucked for 6 hours to be run up a race and stunned to death or to perish slowly. There is no feed and now there is very little water!
I am not the owner nor am I responsible for them.
Although these horses are in a shocking state, the owner should be commended on surrender. It's heartbreaking for them also.
There is a large number of starving and mostly unhandled horses and ponies. Their breed is a mix of brumbies, quarter horses, stock horses and ponies of all ages. These horses have been doing it tough for a very long time, the young ones have known nothing else. Some will recover quite quickly, some will need a longer rehabilitation period and others may carry the scars for a lifetime. I am willing to do all I can to help, even if we can only save some it will make their suffering worthwhile.
We can get them handled to a manageable level quite quickly and hopefully get their nutrition level back from critical to going forward. I can only do this if I have homes guaranteed for them because I am at maximum occupancy now and hand feeding everything.
We will be accepting donations for their rehabilitation as well as the muster and transport costs through this page. Depending on donations we will be employing our trusted specialist equine veterinarian to castrate colts and administer any necessary veterinary care.
Stannum Hay and Farm Supplies have generously offered to provide any hay and feed at cost price while these ponies are in rehabilitation.
We will also be talking to anyone who thinks they are ready to give one or more of these poor darlings a second chance.
The adoption fee is only $150 to cover the initial feed costs. The full cost of rehabilitation will be much more which is why we will be relying on donations.
Our aim is to have them settled enough and well enough to travel to their new homes for their second chance at a better life.
Each prospective home will be assessed on their suitability to each pony. Ponies will not be going solo. If the adoptees have other horses or ponies at home, one is fine, otherwise they will go in pairs and no more than. Homes will be very carefully selected and approved as these gorgeous souls have been through enough already!
When they are ready, the pick up will be from Stanthorpe QLD.
I would love to be able to thank each and every person that has helped and sent kind words, but we have been overwhelmed with the flood of support and generosity from all over the world so please be understanding if you haven't received a reply. It really is amazing that in such widespread drought and hardship, there are still so many people with so much love to give.
Keep following this page for regular updates and to watch the journey step by step.
