Many More Recesses for Steve Padgett

Steve Padgett, the owner and director of RECESS (aftercare program and summer camp at SCA) is the biggest kid you’ll ever meet. He loves the Lord and is living life to the fullest—even while battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia since August 4, 2017.  It is an acute, aggressive form of leukemia which progresses very quickly. To fight it, Steve has undergone more than 115 hours of chemotherapy, six hours of full body radiation and a bone marrow transplant.

As Steve got set this June to undergo a second bone marrow transplant to fight a relapse, PET scans showed rapidly growing tumors that have developed on his lungs and behind his heart. 

On June 5, doctors told Steve they were out of options and that without treatment, their best estimate was that he had two to seven weeks to live.

Western medicine has closed the door on chemotherapy and a second bone marrow transplant, but Steve is not out of options. God is at work and doors are being opened.

Already benefitting from naturopathic treatments while battling the cancer, Steve asked for an opinion from his specialist in that field, Dr. Gioacchino Franco, a world-renowned expert in naturopathic care and alternative cancer therapy.  Dr. Franco calmly looked at Steve's scan and said "Well, let's get started."

Steve receives an IV combination of 21 therapies PER DAY under the supervision of Dr. Franco to boost his immune system and allow the body to fight the cancer. This treatment is not covered by insurance and costs $5,000 per day for six treatments per week.

Dr. Franco so believes in Steve and his ability to win this fight that he has donated $20,000 of his own funds. He is also more concerned about seeing Steve living and thriving than he is about making sure he’s paid. He’s treating Steve now and leaving the finances till later.

THERE IS HOPE above and beyond these measures to keep Steve strong and ensure that his body can fight the cancer. Steve and Jyl have found three potential treatments that can prolong his life and fight the cancer. (See more details in updates.)
