One of our Foxboro Families needs help!
The Manthei family is in need of our support. Heidi and Eric are good friends of ours and a lot of other people in our community. Heidi has been an educator in the Millis school system since 2003. During Monday night’s torrential rain and windstorm, Heidi heard rushing water, so she looked through the house, only to find water pouring in from the garage. Soon after, they heard a huge gush of water, that sounded like a waterfall, followed by cracking and banging. Heidi tried to go downstairs but the water was quickly rising. The water ripped through the garage, the utility room, and into their finished basement-- leaving barely anything salvageable! Foxboro Fire Department was there for hours trying to get the water level down.
Due to all the water damage they do not have heat or electricity. They spoke to the insurance adjuster and on Wednesday they were told that the claim would not be covered. As one can imagine, the cost of cleanup, fixing the electrical, replacing parts of the boiler and water tank, as well as repairing the rest of the basement is adding up. Heidi, Eric, and Emma (a student at the Ahern) are forced to stay in a hotel (which is also not covered by insurance). They will be there until the house is safe and has heat and electricity. Like many others, as a result of the pandemic, they only have one income at this time.
The holidays are upon us and with Christmas only 3 weeks away let’s see what our amazing community, friends, and family can do to help! Thank you for considering and please share.
