Last year I inherited an extensive collection of photographs, slides, maps and plans of a 30-year collection covering the great estates of the Gilded Age. The owner knew I would give it a good home, and I will. The photo here is a lovely circa 1920's aerial photo of the Pembroke mansion, Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, which I found while going through some of the almost 20 boxes. Once you open boxes and files, you never know what gems you might find. I usually am very organized and neat; all of this will be repacked soon. This organized chaos is now part of my ongoing "Mansions of the Gilded Age Archive" project. I hope to be able to scan a great deal to post on social media, such as my Facebook groups, "Mansions of the Gilded Age" & "The Gilded Age Society" This is primarily a time-intensive project. I have found someone who can help but requires to be paid for their time of $25.00ph, which I intend on paying myself. Still, any assistance from group members would be greatly appreciated.
