Hi my name is Rebecca Heisler today has been a sad day for us. This morning my younger brother who is an officer with the ketchikan police department let his dog Juneau outside onto the porch for a little fresh air and Juneau usually stays on the porch as it has a locked gate but not this morning Somehow the gate did not latch all the way and Juneau being the young full of energy, adventurous, escape artist that she is ran off to the road. My brother went out to look for her and noticed some people in the road by the 6 foot drop down ditch. There at the bottom of the ditch was Juneau covered in blood, naturally (like any dog dad, officer of the law, or person would do) he jumped down in the ditch and pulled her upuckily we live in such a great community with loving neighbors that people had already gathered to their aide. a neighor had gotten my brother's emergency aide kit for him and rushed it to him so that he could pack Juneau's chest with clotting clothe. Then they were rushed to the emergency vet luckily Juneau is alive but with a snapped front leg and will need to fly to Seattle for surgery and to. have a metal plate put in a very speendy operation but like most of us who have animals as part of our families you know just like a child or sibling we would do anything for them.. Juneau is the best neice I could ever ask for, every time I would see her or call her on the phone or FaceTime with her she would start off howling then look at me as to say ok your turn Then I would howl right back and she would sit and listen then it would become a battle of who could howl the longest and loudest. I would lose most of the time only because she would get excited and jump up on me then lick me in the mouth.. or grandma Susan heisler would say ok that's enough your gonna wake up your dad..
