I am reaching out to share the inspiring journey of Manny Garcia, a remarkable individual whose life took a dramatic turn when he was hospitalized with COVID-19 in March of 2020. What began as a battle for survival quickly escalated into a never-ending fight against unimaginable challenges. Manny faced several months in the hospital, on life support, and underwent crucial ECMO treatment. He bravely endured amputations of his left foot and right leg and fought off several life-threatening infections. After over a year in a rehabilitation nursing home, his resilient spirit has continued to shine through.

Despite facing overwhelming obstacles that have stripped him of his independence and the ability to care for himself, Manny’s determination remains unbroken. For five years, he has fought tirelessly to reclaim his life, and after a long wait, he finally received a prosthetic limb that has opened the door for his recovery. Yet, the journey is far from over, as Manny now confronts another significant hurdle.

His medical insurance has denied coverage for the intensive physical therapy he urgently needs to walk again. In order to regain his mobility, he must undergo several months of daily, aggressive therapy at a state-of-the-art facility in Florida. There, he will receive treatment from board-certified therapists trained in the latest, most effective exercises, while using the most innovative technology to properly determine the progress being made. The facility not only provides top-of-the-line services but also living quarters where he will be shuttled to the location. While this is an essential step toward recovery, it comes with overwhelming costs. His doctors and therapists firmly believe that with consistent care, Manny can make remarkable strides, but without it, his progress will be painfully slow.
