This fundraiser is dedicated to Manny Hardy: a loving husband and dedicated father. In early February 2020, Manny started to feel sick. This was surprise because Manny was never ill. He was always happy, joking, and making others laugh. He has always been the person taking care of everyone else. At his first doctor’s appointment, he was diagnosed with bronchitis but the symptoms just would not go away. One evening while sleeping, Manny woke up and told me that he felt like he was drowning. I took him to the ER in the middle of the night. They diagnosed him with bronchitis again but mentioned that his heart looked “strange” and enlarged. That was a Thursday. By the next Tuesday he was sitting in a Cardiologist’s office being told that he NEVER had bronchitis and that he was in Heart Failure with an ejection fraction of 10%.
Since being diagnosed with Heart Failure his medical insurance company has fought or declined every major charge.
Manny is a skilled, educated Diesel Mechanic who started his own business with a truck, a set of tools, a dream and a supportive wife. He essentially started from nothing. He has been a faithful steward over his gifts and always gives to others and the community. He is a fighter who can beat this with proper medical care. Each week, the medical bills are mounting especially since his next appointment is with the Heart Transplant Unit. I want Manny to fight this without worrying about how the bills will be paid. He chooses to fight and to live everyday and we can not be prouder than to call him husband and dad or “pop”.
