Manny’s medical & keeping our family near him

Hello my name is Pamela Holmes but most know me as Pammy. I’m one of Manny’s older sisters. On February 23rd, my brother was involved in a horrific car accident while turning into work as an officer at the Sumter County Jail. He was airlifted to a local trauma hospital due to the impact of his injuries. The list of his injuries are so extensive and the number of specialist that are involved in his care are starting to become more than I can count at the moment. One of the doctors told us that this is the first time they have seen someone with as many injuries at one time that he’s ever seen. It’s become so overwhelming. Currently, he remains on the ventilator and while the doctors continue to give us updates daily and rule out different things, we are continuing to hold out hope that he will wake up and be okay. We need him to wake up. His son needs him to wake up. I need him to wake up. If you could see what he looks like and hear all that’s wrong with him or broken it would break your heart like it’s breaking ours.

As many of you know, if you know my family personally, it’s that my family is my life. I have always been the anchor of my family. It is killing me that I even have to write this and goes against everything that I’ve known because I’ve always provided for them and have always ‘made it happen’ for my family ALWAYS. Please know that I am not good at this and asking for help isn’t something I’ve ever been good at.. But right now, I’m beyond in over my head..

Due to the fact the accident happened near my brother’s job in Sumter and my family and I live in trinity area, we have to stay in a hotel near the hospital for some time to stay close to my brother as we leave the fate of him in the hands of doctors, nurses, surgeons, and God’s hands. While my sister, myself and my brother’s girlfriend do not mind commuting the almost two hour drive, I CANNOT allow my mother to be away from her son, my brother. I will do everything in my power to keep her near my brother. We never got to say goodbye to our father and my mother never got to say goodbye to our dad. And although we are praying for the best outcome with him ALWAYS, I will never ever put her in a predicament where she may not get the chance to say it to my brother or be there when he wakes up. So I’m asking for help. While I have received the generous help from my boss of 11 years, I cannot continue to take the gestures of the company I love over and over and am asking for help.

I am asking for my family and Manny and now myself for the help of those that can. I need to keep my mom near him. I need to keep the hotel going so the family has somewhere to stay while being there for my brother and being together as a family. I need to start a savings for my brothers medical bills so that when he wakes up because he HAS to wake up, he doesn’t stress or worry about them because he knows his sister will always ‘make it happen’. I need him to wake up. I need to

be able to make it happen for him and for my family. Anything helps and I want to thank each and everyone of you from the bottom of my heart how much your concerns, calls, texts, and all of it mean to myself and my family. If Manny could see how many people care, I know he would be thanking God too.
