Manny Ramos & Family
Donation protected
Update: Manny has chosen to go forward with the Stem Cell Treatment.
Funds raised are being used for a private house for Manny and his mother as he has to be isolated, flight for his mother from Puerto Rico, weekly groceries & meals for him, Stephanie and the kids, insurance deductible and miscellaneous medical expenses. Manny and his mom will have to be in the house for 30 plus days
We are putting a cap on the donations for this one treatment incase there are larger expenses later where more donations would be needed.
Manny was originally diagnosed with Follicular Lymphoma November 2022. He went through chemo from December 2022-March 2023. At that time, the FL shrunk some after 6 rounds of chemo and doctors decided to just scan periodically to keep an eye on it. Fast forward to June 2023 Manny had a checkup scan and was told at the beginning of July that unfortunately his cancer had grown quickly since the last scan. We were then transferred to KU from Mosaic. After deciding to go through with a clinical trial he began his new treatment in October. He went through 3 sessions of chemo and had his scan at the end of December. The scan came back with good news that the treatment had worked. Now he was given two choices but ultimately decided to go with the doctor’s recommendations. Manny will be having an autologous stem cell transplant. The last two weeks of January will be filled with almost daily trips to KU for all the pretesting and education he will need before the process starts. At the end of January, he will start the process which will start with 4 days of shots, 1-3 days of stem cell extraction, 6 days of hard chemo, 1 day of rest and then transplant day where he will receive his stem cells back. He will be staying in KC with his mom for over a month as required for this treatment. Manny will be isolated to the house with his mom or the hospital for daily checkups. He will not be allowed any visitors or be able to go anywhere else for a minimum of 30 days. The hope for this treatment is to give Manny a chance to live a longer cancer free life. The doctor believes this treatment will “lock in” the results. We appreciate all the love, thoughts, prayers, and support during this difficult time for our family.
