I am Mannix Flynn, Independent Councillor in Dublin City Council for the past 17 years.

Many candidates in this by-election represent parties already in Dáil Éireann. They are part of systems that require agreement, compromise, and, at times, silence.

I am standing as an independent because I believe the role of a public representative is first and foremost to speak, to question, and to hold decisions up to the light.

For 17 years on Dublin City Council, I have worked within the system but not been shackled by it. I have raised issues others choose to ignore, challenged decisions that didn’t stand up to scrutiny, and doggedly pursued matters until there was a clear result.

An individual TD cannot solve housing, healthcare or the many pressures facing this constituency alone. Anyone who suggests otherwise is not being straight with you.


What a TD CAN DO is this:

HIGHLIGHT issues that are ignored,

EXAMINE decisions closely,

QUESTION how money is spent,

GUARANTEE that the lived experience of people is not smothered in waffle and spoof.

That is the work I will do.
