In June of 2019, our father received the life altering diagnosis of Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer with mets to his liver and lungs. His doctors have recommended a course of treatment involving chemo and medication, which carries a heavy cost. We are starting this fundraiser to help offset his cost of treatment, transportation, and general day to day needs.
As many may know, my father was directly impacted by the events of 9/11/2001. He worked in the World Trade Center during that time but miraculously did not go into the city that day. He lost friends and peers, as well as his source of income. Our father was the sole provider for his family of five and took this life event head on. Through his own tenacity, courage, and faith, he returned to his roots of physical labor in the form of painting and handyman services. He started his own company, Mannion Custom Painting, and worked as much as he could. He moved this company to two other states, Pennsylvania and Georgia, and tirelessly tracked down job after job to ensure his family's needs were met. Even during the housing crisis of 2008, he found work and made ends meet. He gave of himself, particularly physically, so that his family could succeed.
In March of this year, our dad became a grandfather. He is so excited to be in this role and any time he gets to spend with his family and his grandson is a precious gift.
Pancreatic Cancer is nearly impossible to catch in the early stages as many symptoms go unnoticed. This makes it the third most deadly cancer in the United States. Our father is also a diabetic, so he is having to manage that disease on top of his cancer treatments. We are pragmatic in our approach to facing this diagnosis head on and providing for our father all the comforts he deserves and the treatment he requires. Cancer is a looming battle that our father is fearlessly taking on. His treatments have already begun so any donations, shares, prayers, and well wishes are truly appreciated.
Any donations made will be put towards medications, treatments, and ensuring maximum comfort during this painful and difficult time.
Thank you for your time!
