Manjula Palmattam

Hello, my name is Lalith Wijesundara and I am a childhood friend of Manjula Palmattam. I want to start by saying thank you for taking a moment to read about our beloved friend. It is with a heavy heart that we come to you today to ask for your support during this incredibly difficult time. The Palamattam family is living through the most tragic heartbreak and financial hardship right now. On September 22, 2023, Manjula passed away from ovarian cancer. We are all devastated by her loss. Manjula’s family was not prepared for the high cost of services for her funeral. We want to give Manjula, the memorial she deserves, honor her memory, and say our last goodbye.

Manjula was a loving Mother of two children and the wife of "Bobby" Ignatius Palamattam. Her family had gone through many hardships and battles, including losing her first child 15 years ago. They remained happy with their 13-year-old daughter Nicole Palatamattam. They are a very loving and close-knit family. I remember her as active, independent, and outgoing during our friendship as kids. She loved children and dedicated her life as a teacher.

Manjula was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in 2019. She underwent a 14-hour surgery as a result. Although the surgery was a success the chemotherapy that followed had adverse reactions causing her to almost lose her life. She was able to fight through and stayed strong for 2 1/2 years. Mid-last year, after being taken to the hospital with pains in her abdomen, she was diagnosed with Cancer in her stomach wall. She started to lose weight severely, down to 70 lbs. Her husband, Bobby, was compelled to quit his job to attend to her on a full-time basis. As a result, her husband suffered untold financial loss. When she was last taken to UCLA with breathing issues, she succumbed to her ailments and we lost her forever on September 22, 2023.

I am raising money to help Palmattam's family with the funeral expenses and other bills that have piled up during Manjula’s illness. They are facing a lot of financial stress and uncertainty in addition to their grief. My goal is to raise $35,000. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will make a big difference for them.
