Manitoba Forest Fire - Miracle Dogs - All Donations matched

My name is Rory Krocker and I'm fundraising for my friends who lost their home in Northern Manitoba to the forest fire and have an incredible/miracle dog recovery story.

Living in the bush approximately 30 km north-east of Flin Flon, Manitoba, Travis Foxx, his family and animals were forced to evacuate their remote home due to the imposing forest fires.

Travis bravely stayed behind until the last minute in an attempt to save their chickens, turkeys, dogs, and home until the fire overtook the area.

Travis during the last minute evacuation called frantically for his dogs (Mia and Milo) to join him in what would be a canoe paddle, followed by portages, and finally a hike before his friend Danny could pick him up.

But the dogs would not get in the boat and the final heart breaking decision to go without them had to be made.

MIRACULOUSLY, 40 days into their evacuation, there was a Facebook report of two dogs showing up in the town of Flin Flon. After a lengthy evacuation of the town itself, and a 30+ km journey for the dogs.....They were alive!!!

Mia (just a few months earlier) had been attacked and mauled by a wolf and barely saved by Travis (maybe this toughened her up enough to survive this journey!??).

Anyways, my friends have lost their home and are in need of assistance (as their remote bush location was not insured).

Their lone silver lining to this tragedy is the miraculous return of the dogs.

Any donation is greatly appreciated and all funds will go to helping these wonderful people and animals rebuild their lives.

Travis's employer, Canadian Gold Corp (soon to be acquired by McEwen Mining), has graciously agreed to match all donations up to a total of $10,000; which is why I'm posting this. It's a chance to double any help to rebuild their home.

I realize how much everyone around here has lost and felt apprehensive about writing this; but I was talking with my wife about my friend in Flin Flon who lost everything.

She said you should do a "Go fund me", and once Canadian Gold Corp/McEwen mining decided to double it I knew I had to post it. (and I think the dogs story is worth writing, it could easily be a cool book or movie based out of Flin Flon!).

Thanks in advance,

Have a great day,

Rory
