Fundraiser
Manhood Camp is seeking to bring our leadership and life skills development program (free of charge) to a group of at-risk youth residing in Compton, California, as well secure an 18 passenger Ford E-450 shuttle bus to take the youth on educational and entertaining outings.

We are initiating this fundraising drive to cover our cost including classroom materials, field trip transportation (shuttle bus) and other program related expenditures. Our program operates in 10 week cycles. This funding will allow Manhood Camp to provide 4 cycles (40 weeks) which would impact nearly 60-80 at-risk youth. Over the past three years we have conducted over 20 program cycles including both classroom instruction and exciting field trips. Some of the magnificent field trip locations include visits to The California African American Museum, the Holocaust Museum, the Asian American and Pan Pacific Museums as well the Latin American Museum, a weekend computer workshop conducted at an Apple store, a visit to The Paley Center for Television and film research, The Peterson Automotive Museum, several nature hikes and many more exciting and educational environments. As mentioned above, we are in the process of expanding our efforts. This will require additional funding. About Us
Manhood Camp is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization that offers a 8-10 week life skills development program (i.e. health and awareness, money management, gang awareness and drug prevention and healthy relationships). These classes focus on empowering At-Risk young men towards safe and productive behavior. It was founded by Mark Winkler and Travon Tillis. Our program's aim is to impart four main principles: Self-Awareness, Self-Empowerment, Personal-Responsibility and Social-Responsibility.

Engagement
Manhood Camp participants are encouraged to actively participate in all discussions and follow through with completing all related session activities. We found that in a safe and collaborative atmosphere, amongst their peers, participants feel more comfortable expressing their fears and doubts in a healthy and constructive manner, and become open to learning new strategies and interventions to face the challenges of becoming productive young men.
