On Thursday may 7th, my family and I was in for the surprise our lives. While out getting essential items for my 2 year old son and fiancé our building was involved in a 3-alarm fire. Five people were hospitalized along with two fire fighters.
We are now homeless in the middle of a Global Pandemic. Most of our clothes and belonging were affected by the fire.
While we are happy to be alive, we are starting all over again from scratch.
Due to the fire, our family was placed in a hotel left with no where to live and very little personal items and no furniture.
We are in need of finding an Apartment to rent and furniture. Finding resources or programs in New York City to help us with this process has been challenging. My building management company is overwhelmed and doesn’t have the resources to place us back in Manhattan. Especially in our upper west side community. Both my fiancé and I are unemployed due to the Corona virus and relocating is going cost our family money we don’t have.
To add another layer to our story. We also just found out we are expecting another child. That just makes things scarier. Plus finding affordable housing in Manhattan may not come easy. Thats why I decided to ask for help from my family, friends and community to raise money to make this transition easier.
Funds collected will help my family into transitioning into permanent housing and will assist us in purchasing all of the items we lost in the fire. Furniture shoes, clothes toys, pampers,
food a crib etc. We understand this a hard time for everyone. Any and all donations would be greatly appreciated for helping my family in our time of need.
