Mango's Life Saving Butt Surgery

Hi, my name is Bec, and I foster a LOT of orphaned kittens. It makes me so happy to see helpless infant kittens grow up strong and find forever homes. Recently, a little kitten named Mango was found at a food market in terrible condition. My friend and I, working with Jelly's Place Animal Shelter, took her in, bottle-fed her, cleaned her up and treated her for worms and fleas. She was just one week old!

When she was old enough to start eating solid foods, I noticed something wasn't quite right with her butt (odd thing to say - I know); she could not poop properly. She became so constipated that she was in pain every time she tried to poop. And it never improved.

Over the next month, I spoke to many vets and did my own research on her symptoms, and we eventually figured out what was wrong. She needs a new butt. Seriously. Mango has what is called 'atresia ani', a congenital (born with it) condition, where part of her colon is the size of a mouse colon - not a cat colon. It means all her poop gets stuck inside her, and it's incredibly painful and difficult to pass. Her only chance for living is to undergo anoplasty or bowel reconstructive surgery. Furthermore, it needs to happen as soon as possible, as waste is building up inside of her.

I'm covering the costs out of pocket so that the surgery can happen this Monday (October 31st) - and while I have no regret in choosing this for Mango, I'm worried there may be further costs involved in follow-up surgeries (this often happens with her condition). If you are willing to donate anything, Mango and I would be eternally grateful.

Mango came into my life unexpectedly, and while I had originally taken her in as a foster kitten, it turns out she had already found her forever home with me <3 I love you Mango.
