If there were a living thing that could be created of all heart it would be our friend Mango. Who is Mango? Mango is a special kind of golden retriever who is approaching her 13 years young birthday with considerably more life to live in this wondrous world. Strengths: Mango celebrates love every day, she builds comradery with just about anything (i.e. a stone) and is a special operative at detecting squeakers within toys. A once avid backpacker, water aerobics extraordinaire, and a self-proclaimed gopher hunter (no luck in a catch in all these years). Weaknesses (and maybe a big one): Despite being a ‘retriever’ Mango has an unbelievable talent for having never retrieved a thing in her life…ever. Mango undoubtedly represents purity in its truest form. She is a best friend to countless, and is, in our informed opinion, a precious life worth saving.
We know in turbulent times such as these, it seems like a big ask to reach out to our community for help with our friend Mango and thank you for taking the time to consider lending a hand. Our sweet golden nugget has recently been diagnosed with a plasma cell tumor in her colon that sits on her bladder and is completely curable. After two professional opinions I have decided to go ahead with the removal of Mango’s tumor to extend her life another few years. This decision was difficult to make, and we ultimately came to the conclusion that monetary value cannot be placed on our dear friend Mango’s life if it means she lives and enjoys her days for years to come.
The decision to proceed with surgery was also influenced by the results of her blood work which showed Mango’s organs currently healthy and functioning optimally. After numerous tests, two professional opinions, and conversations with my four-legger best friend, we have decided to go through with surgical removal of the cancer. Mango is resilient in spirit and body and shows excellent health aside from her current diagnosis. The operation will require full abdominal surgery and the odds for success and survival are greatly in Mangos favor. The surgery will significantly lengthen Mango’s life, allow her to use the forest lavatory with ease and alleviate her recent onset of urinary incontinence; as the tumor pushes on her bladder. Opting out of surgery would give Mango 6 months of life left. Conversely, both surgeons report confidence the procedure would ensure Mango enjoy the rest of her life which is predicted to be 3-4 years more. Her surgery is scheduled for Wednesday, September 23rd with the reputable and experienced surgeon, Kim Carlson in San Mateo, CA. The amount for surgery is stated to be $9000 of which we have been able to cover $2000. We will soon post all documented costs in the updates.
We are greatly aware that these unprecedented times are significantly challenging for all of us. We sincerely appreciate any support in covering Mangos hospital bills. Air-hugs and prayers are just as cherished for our dear friend Mango. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
