On 16th of October our young neighbour in his early 30's lost everything - all of his belongings were burned down, the fire brigade has reported to me that nothing was recovered. Even the two vehicles were completely destroyed.
However, the man and his 14 month old daughter, along with a visiting male friend escaped with their lives and only very mild injuries.
I was there when the man ran out of the house through the heavy smoke and surrounding flames - it's a miracle they survived. The most terrifying event I have ever witnessed in my life, for certain.
Sadly, the two much loved dogs did not survive the blaze.
The man did not have time to grab anything except his daughter (no mobile phone, nothing). He lost everything except the clothes he was wearing, and the nappy the baby was wearing.
He is a passionate martial artist and dedicated gymnast and is well regarded in the local community. Sadly he also lost all of his gymnastics equipment which was on the property at the time.
Please contribute to assist this man and his family get established again.
I have collaborated with The Messenger Magazine (North Lakes) to organise donations etc too. If you are a business looking to donate goods please contact Becca from The Messenger Magazine directly.
Thank you for your generous donations and all your support!
All donations will be passed on to the victim via gift vouchers, and given to him directly by myself.
Iwill be doing this, as the victim is my neighbour, and I have been organising all of the donations alongside The Messenger Magazine (the victim has been collecting physical donations of necessities from me). The funds will be used to replace the uninsured vehicles that were destroyed in the blaze, and other personal necessities such as laptop, work (gymnastics) equipment etc - whatever the victim and his daughter are desperately in need of.
I will post updates when withdrawals are made, with how much and what it will be used for.
Thank you for your support!
