Dear Family and Friends,
We hope you are doing well. We are writing to ask if you would be willing to support a free meals program for people struggling to survive in Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is in a dire economic situation right now that has caused millions of people to be without food, power, healthcare, and other basic needs. I recently visited Sri Lanka with my family and experienced what people are going through. My cousin Mira (based in Sri Lanka) and I met with the CEO of a company called Spicy Mango, a small business cloud kitchen that makes and delivers food in the Colombo area.
We are working with Spicy Mango to provide free meals to people in need through the Mango Hearts Campaign, which will:
- (In Sri Lanka) Raise money from Spicy Mango customers and friends directly through their website - https://www.spicymango.lk/mangohearts/
- (In the U.S. & globally) Raise money from family and friends through this “Mango Hearts” GoFundMe campaign.
- Partner with community centers like children's orphanages and elder homes in the Colombo 5 & 6 areas with direct access to people in need.
Our initial goal is to raise $16,500 (6,000,000 rupees), providing 15,000 nutritious meals (each meal will cost $1.10/Rs. 400). My uncle and Mira's father, Arjuna Wignaraja, will collect and deliver the funds to Spicy Mango. We will share the progress toward our goal with you.
Would you be willing to help this cause? Please feel free to share the Mango Hearts campaign with others. For more information, contact us and check out the Mango Hearts website - https://www.spicymango.lk/mangohearts/
Thanks for your support,
Janu Dreher & Mira Wignaraja
