Mango's Medical Fund

My Name is Carson Landsberger, I am 22 year old student living in Victoria, BC.  I have always had a love for animals, and have always had cats my whole life. 4 years ago after my family cat of 13 years had passed, I took it upon myself to find and care for beautiful little kitty of my own, "Mango".  Mango as a kitten had a large tuff of orange fur on her head and gave me the inspiration to name her after the delicious fruit. I have cared for her and loved her so unconditionaly for the last 4 years that she has been the most loving and affectionate cat anyone can ask for.  Mango's personailty almost mimicks my own, she gives so much affection and loves to cuddle for hours. Mango loves to bring home presents for me that I have to decretely throw them away as not to offend her, she isn't vicious or has typical cat behaviour, she would never hurt you. Mango has a gentle and playful soul.

Last week I had found a strange lump on her side that was causing her pain when touched. I took her into the Shaw Veternary and equine clinic in saanichton as they are the only ones open on a sunday and Mothers day.  They looked at her and came up with the conclusion that she probably had an abcess and they cut open the lump and tried to drain the fluid, they sent me home with antibotics and instructions to just let it heal on its own.

Now, fast forward a week. The wound was not healing properly and she had been extremely lethagic and hadnt been eating and her mobility had been suffering, so i had called in and made an appointment to see the doctor again.  it was a differen't doctor this time, she took a look at Mango, then proceeded to take her into the back room and shave more of her fur to get a better view.

When she had come back, she asked me to go into the back with her. She then showed me and told me that the infection had spread across most of her abdomin and that the skin was necrotic. In other words, the skin was dying.

Medically, they said that she would need sugery to extract the skin from that area and intense post surgery medical care. as they are going to have to remove the skin and fat from her abdomin, thus exposing the muscle until she can grow back new skin. this they said was going to be a costly procedure, $4000-$6000.

here is a photo of her abdomin, as you can see the infected area is surrounded by sharpie so they can monitor the spread of infection.

Mango is my life
, there isnt anything I wouldnt do for her. its hard to only have one thing that you care about and feel that you can love and will love you back unconditionally. for people that have not grown up with pets and have not had that bond and connection will find it hard to understand, but for all of you who know what its like to love and be loved by an animal, you know why I would want to do anything for her.

Please help me, help Mango and donate.
