She is scheduled to have her surgery on January 24th, 2025, in Draper, Utah, with one of the top Endometriosis excision specialists in North America, Dr. Jeff Arrington. As we all know, surgeries in the United States can be costly, but through research, vetting, and consultations with Dr. Arrington, Mandy has concluded that he is the only one who can make her dreams of a pain-free life come true. If you, or someone you know, is or has suffered from this terrible disease, you understand how painful and debilitating it can be. Mandy has helped countless women suffering from this disease through advocacy and online support groups and plans to do even more once she has recovered. Read more...
Mandy's story is one of what seemed to be a never-ending battle with a disease that all too many women suffer from.
On August 17th, 2021, Mandy was 'officially' diagnosed with stage 2 endometriosis. One would think that she had perhaps gone to see the doctor sometime in 2020 with pain that was out of the ordinary and looking for answers, then had an MRI or CT scan a few months later and was diagnosed soon after with endometriosis... This is far from the case. The first time a doctor uttered the word endometriosis as a possible cause for the terrible debilitating pain she had been suffering from for almost two decades was in 2010. Now imagine that you were diagnosed with this condition, which causes excruciating labour-like pain daily, and had to wait 11 years for someone to finally take you seriously. You know you need surgery, you are in constant pain, yet you wait. And wait...
Mandy has toughed it out and fought through this extreme pain for most of her life, yet she is one of the most caring, loving, and amazing women I have ever met. On August 17th, 2021, she was admitted for surgery for endometriosis, but at least in Canada, there is no way to determine whether or not you have it until they look inside. The diagnosis was confirmed, and a full hysterectomy and endometriosis excision was performed. Waking up in pain, yet hopeful that she could finally begin recovering and returning to a life without pain that she could only recall as a faint memory from childhood, Mandy finally felt like she had accomplished the victory over this disease that she so desperately wanted... unfortunately the hope for a 'normal life' did not last very long.
On May 13th, 2022, Mandy returned for a second surgery for the removal of her left ovary and further excision. Despite the previous outcome, She remained hopeful that this would be 'the last one' and that her journey to a pain-free life was beginning... Again, disappointment. It was heartbreaking. After not one but two attempts to remove her endometriosis, she was left back where she started, perhaps even worse off. But did she let that stop her? Not a chance. Instead of retreating, Mandy forged ahead and became a big part of the endometriosis community through tireless research and online support groups. It was through this group of extraordinary women based out of New York and Connecticut that she first heard about an amazing Advanced Endometriosis Excision Specialist out of Draper, Utah, by the name of Jeff Arrington.
With his advanced dynamic ultrasound equipment, Dr. Arrington can map out the affected areas and have a comprehensive surgical plan prior to the procedure, which we do not yet have here in Canada. He also uses an advanced robot-assisted surgical technique, 'Da Vinci'.
Donate and follow her story and journey towards a new life.
Sincerest thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
