As you are all aware our mum was diagnosed with stage 3 Breast cancer about 3 months ago. She had the removal of the cancerous tissue and auxiliary clearance on the 20th of December 2022. Although she is healing well, it was found after a biopsy that the lymph nodes were more infected than they first anticipated creating a need for an aggressive course of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy over the coming weeks. An exact date for this we do not know yet as we are waiting for the Surgery Wounds to heal over before they can start. We know that Chemotherapy will leave my mum bald so In solidarity (or stupidity) my sister Heaven has agreed to shave her head alongside Our mum with the aim of raising funds for another local charity. In addition, my mum's friend Emma, who has also battled this horrible disease is shaving her head with them.

The charity my mum has chosen is Our Special friends.

Our family are huge on animal welfare and this seemed like the perfect charity to raise money for, whilst having some control over the horrible disease that is Cancer.

Although we are raising money for charity, this is also to help the grandchildren understand that being unwell isn’t always a bad thing. That good can come out of a horrible situation. This whole illness has been incredibly traumatic for them, so we hope raising money for another cause will be a welcome distraction.
