Mandy's First Home: Repair and Relief Needed
Donation protected
My daughter Mandy closed on her first home on Valentine's Day, 2025. She was having the roof, two new windows, and a door replaced, so she decided to wait to move in until after the installation. A few weeks later, after some unfortunate spring Buffalo, NY weather, she was finally able to meet the contractor to let them in to complete the roof, etc. That's when they found the pipes had burst upstairs and had damaged so much of her new home. There was damage to the upstairs floors, first-floor walls, floors, and ceilings, and then mold in the basement. She contacted her insurance company, and they denied her claim. Mandy has been paying for her mortgage and her apartment. The lease on the apartment is up soon.
The quote for the mold remediation, demo, and removal of all wet and damaged portions of the house and replacing the sub-flooring, exterior insulation, and drywall was over $24,000. She has been able to get the mold remediation and demo complete. However, she is now out of money, almost out of time (due to the apartment lease ending), and still needs floors and walls to be able to move into her home.
Any support you can offer to help get Mandy into her very first home would be greatly appreciated. She worked hard to make this happen, and a whirlwind of unfortunate events has turned this joyous occasion into a soggy mess! All donations will be deposited in Mandy's account and used to fix her house and get her moved in. Thank you in advance for any and all help you can offer!
