They do not live in a "flood zone" and were told that they did not have to evacuate. However, Sunday morning they woke up and their home and car were flooded and they had no way out. Fortunately, neighbors in a boat came to their rescue and they are safe at a friends house. The water has receded from inside her house but it cannot be lived in.
Because their home was not in a flood zone they did not have flood insurance and will get no insurance money.
THEY NEED OUR HELP to get their lives back in order.
Mandy and I grew up together in Corsicana, Texas and she is the most wonderful person you'll ever meet. She is a teacher for Pasadena ISD and a single mom who has worked so hard to get her degree, a teaching job, and to buy this house and build a good life for her and her daughter. I've never met anyone who has worked so hard and sacrificed so much. Her daughter, Shandril, is kindhearted and would do anything for her friends and family! She loves theater and is going into her fist year of high school.
Your donations will all go directly to Mandy and Shandril to help support thier immediate needs in the aftermath of the flooding as well as some long term needs.

Gofundme asked me to also provide the following info --I am originally from Corsicana TX (where I grew up with Mandy) and now live in NYC. Mandy is my best friend and all funds raised will go to the above repiars.
Donations of any amount are greatly appreciated and please share this with as many people as possible. Truthfully, their repairs will probably cost over 40K so every little bit counts and hopefully we can raise even more! Thank you so much for helping our best friend in her time of need!
Much love and gratitude,
