Fighting in Faith: Hope for Mandy

Donation protected
Dear friends, loved ones, and fellow fighters,

We are the family of Mandy Ehlke, our beloved sister, daughter, and friend, and we ask you to join our family in supporting Mandy in her fight against cancer.

Mandy was diagnosed with stage IV breast cancer in February of 2013 while expecting her third child.  Motivated by love for her family, she (along with husband Mark, daughters Melita and Amalie, many family members, and many of you) fought for life through two trimesters of chemotherapy.  Thanks to countless prayers and a loving God, Matthias James Ehlke was born a healthy baby boy on July 16, 2013!  Mandy continued her fight with two rounds of radiation (one for each area affected by the cancer) and major surgery surrounded by the love of Jesus, family, and friends.  In 2014, a scan found no evidence of cancer!

Unfortunately, this was not first time cancer had touched Mandy's life.  Her mother Connie was diagnosed with cholangiocarcinoma in 2011.  The two fought cancer together with overwhelming love for each other.  They leaned on each other for support, cried together through the pain, shared remedies for the simplest relief, and rejoiced together in each and every victory.  They encouraged each other to battle on when the fight seemed impossible.  Love for Mandy gave Connie strength, and she used that strength to fight cancer to the end.  In love, Jesus called Connie to heaven on April 5, 2016, years beyond her original prognosis.

In July, Mandy found out that cancer had returned. A scan found three spots on her liver.

But the story does not end here. There is so much more love to be written in Mandy's story, and we need your help to write it. We want to surround her with love and make sure she's equipped for the battle ahead. Please consider how you can show your love for Mandy, whether through prayers, encouraging words, or a donation.

Funds donated through GoFundMe will be used to pay for medical care, support lost wages due to treatment, and provide services to maintain the household. Hopefully, we are very successful, and extra money can be earned for Mandy and Mark to do some special things with their three children. Those special things make the fight so much easier. Mandy and Mark would never ask for monetary help. That's why we are asking for them. Please help in any way that you can.

We also want to acknowledge a dear friend of Mandy, Elizabeth Merizon. Elizabeth was also planning to set up a Gofundme page but graciously agreed to combine efforts with this page. Thank you, Elizabeth, for continuing to help Mandy and her family!

On behalf of Mandy and Mark Ehlke and their family, we thank you for your prayers and donations.

God bless you all,

Jim, Ben, Dan, and Steph Burow
