Mandi's One Kidney Kili Climb

Greetings, Friends!

In March 2022, 22 living kidney donors from across North America traveled over 8,000 miles to climb the world's tallest freestanding mountain, Mt. Kilimanjaro. Their mission: highlighting the physical possibilities and athletic accomplishments one can still have even after donating a life-saving organ. Conservative estimates suggest that their story was heard by over 30 million people and has inspired many to step forward, donate life, and be the hero in someone else's life and story.

I was in awe. You may even remember me posting the trailer to the documentary that has been made on Facebook.

Fast forward. March 2023.

I have been given the incredible opportunity to join a group on this year's trek and summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro to continue our quest to raise awareness of the need for living kidney donors to step forward and to "prove" that one can return to a normal, active lifestyle after donation.

I had a lot to consider before making the decision to join this trek, one of which was the massive financial undertaking. I have decided to trust that God is leading me to this journey - a journey that will require me to step out of my comfort zone in SO MANY ways - and that he will provide the financial resources for me to do so.

I have so many amazing friends and family, and those who have supported me through my kidney donation, that I have decided to set up this GoFundMe as a way for those who wish to sponsor me on this journey, support this mission, and be a part of raising awareness of organ donation.

In an effort toward full transparency, and because I know my donation goal looks lofty, I am listing my anticipated expenses for this trip below. Thank you in advance, from the bottom of my heart, for considering and for any amount you may choose to give.
