Welcome to my story.
In November of 2021, after having an invasive spinal surgery, I was diagnosed with a very rare form of cancer called a sarcoma. Since then, I have had two rounds of high dose radiation, and I am currently going on my 3rd spinal surgery to take some of the pressure off of my spine. Unfortunately, the radiation I have received did not work and my cancer keeps progressing throughout my thoracic spine and now into my lungs. My next step is to do this surgery on December 8th to help relieve some of the pain and pressure off of my spinal cord. Then, I will proceed with a new systemic treatment. With my condition being so rare, I have to continuously advocate for myself because most of my doctors have no idea what treatments will be effective or not. I care deeply about my body and my quality of life. So, after doing some research I have found an oncologist in California that can take my tissue sampling from my upcoming surgery and test different chemo's and systemic treatments on it to see what would be effective. This would save me the time and trials of taking drugs that could have severe side effects and may not even work at all. Insurance does not cover this type of testing so sadly I have to pay out of pocket for all of it. That plus having to be off work again really takes a toll on myself and my family. I sincerely appreciate anything to help get us closer to our goal. Thank you all so much for your continued support. I am forever grateful.
