Hi there, we are Manchester Sumo!

Founded in May 2026, we are an amateur sumo club proudly affiliated with British Sumo, the official governing body in the UK. Our goal is to promote amateur sumo across the country and offer a fun, safe, open environment for anyone of any skill level and regardless of experience.

Sumo is open to all, people of any gender, size or body type can take part!

To keep improving our club and to provide a more competitive training environment for our regular members, we are seeking support in our goal of raising £1,000 which is the expected cost (including shipping) of a high quality, official size amateur dohyo ring which is made in and shipped from Poland.

This isn't purely a charity fundraiser or a cry for help.

As a club, we plan on offering merchandise and gear (such as mawashi) to our members for close to cost price. Any funds raised over the cost price of any item sold will be donated towards this fund on behalf of the club itself.

For example, the cost to produce a cotton canvas mawsashi for the club is about £22. By selling these to members on a pre-order basis for £30, the club can make a donation of £8 towards this fund for each mawashi sold.

Any and all donations made are directly contributing to the growth of amateur sumo in Manchester and by extension the UK.
