On Sunday 10 October 2021, I am doing the Manchester marathon.
As this is my first (only/last?!) marathon, I've decided to increase motivation by helping to raise a little for a cause I am passionate about. I am keen to help a small charity who has really struggled due to the events of the last 18 months and who never get the support given to the larger charities. So while this may not tug on the heartstrings of everyone, I think many of my friends are animal lovers, and if not, I am hoping you love me enough to contribute even a small amount to spur me over the finish line! :)
26 (not forgetting the .2!) miles is a flipping long way as I'm now beginning to realise but I've become a little more confident during all the training so far that I may possibly achieve it!
I'm hoping to raise a little in aid of Pablo's Horse Sanctuary (named in honour of a little grey pony with a crooked leg, who stole everyone's heart).
Pablo's Horse Sanctuary is a registered charity based in Long Clawson, Leicestershire founded to ease the suffering of horses and ponies whose owners either could not or would not look after them. Many of the horses find themselves at the sanctuary through no fault of their own, some with health problems, some being elderly and often with uncertain futures. Created and run by Carole Fielding and her wonderful team of volunteers, Pablo's offers them the love, care and home they all deserve.
They currently have 95 horses and you can appreciate vet's bills are huge along with feed bills particularly with the winter coming. The pandemic has hit them hard as they have been unable to do any fundraising which they rely on solely. As the charity is run entirely by volunteers, this ensures that 100% of each donation is spent only on the horses and ponies' welfare.
