On the 12th of October this year I will be running the Manchester half marathon to help raise awareness on an extremely rare genetic disorder known as Rett syndrome. Over the last few years I have watched Etta battle this disorder and would love your support to raise more awareness to help with the ongoing research that is being carried out.
The NHS defines this as a rare genetic disorder that affects brain development, resulting in severe mental and physical disability. There is no cure for Rett syndrome, so treatment focuses on managing the symptoms. Etta is likely to need 24-hour care throughout her life.
Etta is the happiest little girl, whilst she cannot walk, talk or use her hands, she radiates so much joy everywhere she goes.
A massive thankyou in advance for any contributions, no matter the size! Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
More information about Reverse Rett: Reverse Rett is a UK medical research charity working to accelerate treatments and a cure for Rett syndrome and related MECP2 disorders.
We fund research and forge connections between scientists, doctors and families affected by Rett Syndrome to help make this goal a reality.
