Help More Disabled Athletes Experience the Joy of Running!

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Claire, and I’m the founder of the charity Ability Social (Charity No. 1211781) and proud lead coach of the Manchester Frame Running Hub — an incredible community of disabled athletes who are proving that anything is possible when given the right support.

What Is Frame Running?

Frame running is a life-changing sport for people with neurological conditions such as Cerebral Palsy and other balance or coordination impairments.
Athletes use a specially designed three-wheeled frame — with a saddle and chest support but no pedals — to run freely, many for the first time in their lives.

For our members, frame running isn’t just about fitness.
It’s about freedom, confidence, and belonging.
It helps to tackle loneliness, isolation, and the everyday barriers that disabled people face — and it creates friendships and joy every single week.

️ About Our Club

We train every Wednesday (5–6:30 pm) at the Manchester Regional Arena, with a small but mighty group of 8–10 athletes.
Following our feature on ITV Granada Reports, we’ve had a surge of interest — our waiting list has now grown to over 10 people eager to join in.

However, we currently lack sufficient frames to provide everyone with the opportunity to participate.

Why We’re Fundraising

Each running frame costs between £3,000–£5,000, and every athlete needs their frame adjusted to suit their body and ability.
We currently have a small number of shared frames, but to meet the growing demand we urgently need to raise funds for:

4 new running frames – £15,408

Custom saddles and chest supports – £2,000

Secure storage container at the track – £3,000

➡️ Total fundraising target: £20,408

Every Pound Makes a Difference

Your donation — no matter the size — helps us open up the world of running to someone who’s never had that experience before.
You’ll be helping disabled people build strength, independence, and friendships through sport.

“When I’m on my frame, I feel like I’m flying.” – one of our young athletes

Please help us continue to change lives through inclusive sport.
Together, we can ensure that everyone has the chance to run.

This is a typical frame runner

This is what some of the participants say:

"The sport of frame running has allowed me to become fitter and use muscles that I haven't used for several years. This is the best form of cardio that I have tried, as it allows me to push myself further than other sports I've tried previously.

Having the ability to run has enabled me to participate in Parkrun. Doing this has not only improved my cardio but also had a positive impact socially and on my mental well-being. Without
this activity I believe that I would not be as happy as I am with regard to my disability."
