Manal to Harvard for the NSLC Program

Hi everyone! My name is Manal Hasan and I am currently a junior at Pewaukee High School. I'm an Honor Student, High Merit Award recipient, catcher on the PHS Varsity Softball team, and also an avid croc hater (please don't take offense to that).
For all of these reasons -- maybe not the croc part -- I’m so happy to say I was invited to represent PHS at the National Student Leadership Conference for Psychology and Neuroscience hosted at Harvard University in June. This program will expose me to many unique situations like analyzing normal and abnormal brain scans (after dissecting them!!), learning the insanely cool effects our brains have on our bodies while earning a college credit at the same time.
The reason why I am so excited and humbled for this opportunity is because my one dream is to make an impact in the mental health field. I try my best to take advantage of every opportunity that pushes me closer to my goal of becoming a clinical psychologist, like by being a part of the Elements of Health and Medicine Insight program. Sometimes though, you have to make your own opportunities. I had to fight to take AP Psychology during my sophomore year, rather than my junior or senior, when it’s offered. It would be incredible to continue my dream chasing at Harvard University learning about a topic I truly love in hopes to help people someday. Though I am so unbelievably excited, I'm looking for some help!
This program costs about $3,500 dollars including transportation. I have already applied for a scholarship and am using the money I've earned through previous jobs and babysitting, and even then, I am hoping for a little bit of help. I know the power of Pewaukee and the incredible sense of togetherness we have as a community so I created this GoFundMe in hopes that people around the area, and even outside, could help me in chasing my dream.
I know this is a very ambitious goal, but to me, every single cent counts. I am so thankful to be a part of such a supportive and uplifting community, especially when it comes to education. I also want to thank my friends, family, and anyone else reading for being so helpful and encouraging. I will never be able to thank you all enough for the help, but will try anyways-- thank you all for reading, donating, and sharing!
