Ecuador Earthquake Relief for Manta
Donation protected
Hello,
As many as you have heard, a devastating 7.8 earthquake hit the coast of Ecuador Saturday night, following dozens of aftershocks, the biggest being a 5.5 (update: now a 6.1). The most affected area being the province of Manabi where most of my family resides, half a mile from the coast in the city of Manta.
We have been very fortunate that noone has been severely injured, but the damages have been significant including collapses of their homes. After the earthquake is also when many of the scarcaities begin. I have been very grateful that many friends have asked how they can help so I have started this gofund me page. Every penny will go assisting someone in need; prioritized by food and immediate shelter. I deeply appreciate any help large or small in this time of need. Thank you!

"The hardest-hit area was the coastal Manabi Province, where about 200 people died, said Ricardo Peñaherrera of Ecuador's national emergency management office. The cities of Manta, Portoviejo and Pedernales, a tourist destination, saw the most devastation but damage was widespread throughout the
country."

gofund me requests that I am as specific as possible:
1. Who we are: Sara Martinez-Palma a.k.a. Sara McGrady, Sara Elizabeth Palma a.k.a Sara Molina, Maria Carmen Castañeda. We are natives of Ecuador born in Manta, Manabi. Most of our family (descendants of Familia Palma-Moreira) resides in the city of Manta, Province of Manabi, specifically in the area of Barrio La Victoria.
2. Where you're from: I am a resident of New Jersey , originally from Manta, Ecuador
3. Your relationship to the parties you're raising funds for: I am raising funds for all affected family members and neighbors in the Province of Manabi.
4. How the funds will be spent:
The funds will go to:
a. Food, Water, Immediate needs, and Rebuilding. Manta does not have a running water system, most water is delivered to each home. Considering all the damage to the infrastructures, water is particulary scarce.
5. How you intend to get the funds to those in need:
The funds will be deposited into my personal account, however I will wihdraw the funds and send it to my family via a trusted agency I always use. I plan to send the money to the head of each household to buy necessary food and supplies and assess the damages to each home.
