I received this quote in a frame 10 years ago from a dear friend at about the same time I started my professional ballroom career. I had no idea how much those words would guide my next ten years.
When I first started I had no intention of someday owning a studio. I quickly saw the amount of stress and work that it could bear on one person. So I decided to set the goal of becoming the best instructor there was. I wanted to not only be an excellent dance role model for students, but I also wanted to learn the art of teaching and truly turn anyone who wanted into a dancer. So I did. I have won numerous awards for both teaching and dancing. I spent the first 5 years focused on personality types, communication skills, dance patterns, techniques,and theories to ensure a strong foundation for my career.
And then I met and fell in love with Mike, my now dance partner, business partner, and husband. He inspired me; I no longer wanted to just be the best instructor, but I wanted to provide a place for my now very loyal students and my growing family. A space where all felt welcomed and comfortable.
So the next 5 years I have spent gaining experience and learning from other studios and management styles. I can say with confidence that I have a clear vision of what will work and what won’t work.
So here I am today asking for help. Everything is in place. I have the experience, the passion, the team, and the plan ready to go. All I am missing is the funds to get started.
If I can raise $25,000, we could get into a space where both my family can thrive and my business can grow. Given my current environment, my business cannot grow. With these funds, my business can do what it’s meant to do: It is our mission to bring more light, love, and joy into the world one dance lesson, social event, or performance at a time. A safe place for people to come to when they need, a place with laughter, hope, and music! A place where you see struggles overcome, dreams come true, doubters turned to believers; a little piece of heaven here on Earth. Today, there is so much negative shoved in our faces. I see our dance business being a light in the middle of all this.
I have always had a feeling that I was meant to do something powerful. The last ten years of my life have been nothing less than a confirmation for my path. I am so excited to begin this next phase of life and look forward to all the positivity my business will bring.
