Wendy was diagnosed with stage four metastatic melanoma May 6th, 2019. She has had melanoma once before in 2014, but it was nowhere near as serious. The form of melanoma is lumps that are all over her upper body, and they are very painful. The main area of concern is her brain; the lumps have spread all throughout it. There are so many that the doctors have told us there is an innumerable amount. The lumps are pressing on certain areas of her brain that are causing her to forget simple things, like foods, and struggle with reading, among other things. They have started radiation and are going to start immunotherapy once her radiation is finished. The immunotherapy is a type of chemo that boosts her immune system to help her body fight the cancer cells on its own. The doctors have said there is a 60% response rate to the immunotherapy and are confident it will help clear most of the lumps she has. She has also been in the hospital in Houston since May 21st, 2019. Her insurance will only cover her treatment 100% after her out of pocket is met. Thankfully, her out of pocket is only $3,400, but she has only paid $77 towards it, so she owes $3,323 until her treatment is completely covered. Anything anyone can donate to help us pay for that will be greatly appreciated!! The $3,323 does not include any other expenses like food and living. She is still living with her daughter and son-in-law, Sarah & Jared, but they would also appreciate any help paying for these extra expenses. Wendy has her three kids, DJ, Sarah and Elizabeth, and her granddaughter, Kezia, as well as many other family members and friends praying for her to pull through this, so we know she will!!
