Mamma Kitty's Medical Expenses

Today marks 1 month that I, Sahar, have traveled home to Texas to be with my family during these hard times. Mama kitty is ferociously battling this plague, Cancer, and it is hard to believe that it is only the beginning....

Squamous cell Carcinoma, also known as the "rat bite" of Cancer is apparently one of the most aggressive forms in existence. Sadly, in just 8 short months, this cancerous "wart"  had mestastasized to her lymph nodes, becoming Stage 3 Cancer. This news crippled our family. We felt like this Cancer came out of nowhere, especially since doctors were certain that this was an infected hair follicle that could be cured with anti-biotics. Luckily, she didn't listen and went for another opinion....

Since the diagnosis, our lives have been in a whirlwind while watching mama kitty fight for her life.  She has been through hell while undergoing radiation and chemo at the SAME TIME. My poor brother has also been battling Cancer for 3 years.
I thought we were prepared...but we were not. 

This past Sunday, my mother started choking because her throat had become so burnt and inflamed from the radiation and chemo. We rushed her to the Emergency Room and have been here ever since...

Her throat is in so much pain, she is not able to eat any solid foods, and is only able to pass water. She now receives all of her meals through a feeding tube.

Ivonne Butleris is a beautiful person both inside and outside. She is a beloved mother, grandmother, professor, and friend, widely adored by everyone. It is truly devastating to watch her go through this painful journey.

Unfortunately, this battle with Squamous Cell Carcinoma left my mother unable to work. Because of the inefficient healthcare system we are STILL waiting to get insurance.
