Mambo’s Epilepsy Meds
Donation protected

Hi, my name is Lola and I’m am desperately trying to raise money to cover the rising cost of my epileptic dogs insurance, without which he will not be able to get the meds he needs to stay alive.
For the people who have asked after mambos story and a go fund me for him:
We rescued Mambo from Romania from a charity I spent 3 years volunteering for called Paws2rescue.
After a year with us mambo had his first seizure, a terrifying event for both owners and the dog to go through. It’s a unique type of hell to watch your dog fit for minutes and there’s nothing you can do.
After mambo had his first fit he then started to regularly cluster seizure resulting in many emergency visits, it was a rough time for us all while we got his med cocktail just right.
Finally after about a year we found that high dose gabapentin and phenobarbital (EpiPen) where the right mix for him and after getting the dosage right Mambo has been seizure free for just over a year, though this could change at any moment we are so grateful that he is even able to be controlled at all as at one point it wasn’t looking so good.
It is believed that mambos epilepsy is a result of a blunt force trauma to his head while he was a pup in Romania.
Mambo is the sweetest, dopiest boy who deserves all the love and care we can give him. Unfortunately about 2 years into having mambo my partner was made redundant and forced into becoming my carer as my own disability worsened. I found out I had a genetic connective tissue disorder that’s only going to get worse as I get older and I regularly dislocate my joints because of it.
Me and Mambo have bonded in a way I never expected to, he’s my little soul mate. We share disability, goofiness and a love language of touch and I will never give him up or let him go without, so for this reason I am turning to go fund me.
Thank you for reading ❤️
If you do decide to donate I will be using the money to pay for his insurance costs, taxis to and from appts and blood-work in order to keep him healthy.
When the cost of insurance outweighs the regular medication cost we will re assess how we provide them for Mambo.
For anyone who wonders, I unfortunately can’t find another insurer for Mambo as no one will accept a dog that has a pre existing condition or provide cover for it once it’s known about. It’s an unfair rule of pet insurance, Napo really do have us backed into a corner :-(
