My mom, Maha, was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, stage III, on February 13, 2017.
For the last two years, she has been dealing with debilitating pain in her right arm, ribs, and spine, pain from what her primary physician believed was severe osteoporosis.
On February 8th, after feeling sharp pains in her right arm, having a hard time breathing, and test results which revealed extremely high calcium in her blood, she was admitted to the emergency room. A bone marrow biopsy revealed my mom has Multiple Myeloma, stage III: a rare type of cancer that develops in plasma cells. "Her bones," the oncologist said, "are like swiss cheese. Holes all over, head to toe." In result she has shrunk in height from 5'5" to 4'9" and in weight from 115 to 79lbs.
She has begun chemotherapy treatment as of March. My family and I are waiting to find out how she responds to treatment and whether or not radiation or a stem cell transplant will be necessary.
We know she will thrive, survive, and beat Multiple Myeloma; however, all prayers, good vibes, and well-wishes are appreciated.
