Support Mamacha to Record their Music

Donation protected
We are very excited to be embarking on this journey of recording our music so we can share it more widely with the world!

Recording is a huge investment and we currently have no funding for this project so we are asking our friends, family, community and fans for your support in this endeavour.

We would like to look at it as a way for people to pre buy our music and will give back to each and every one of you who donates!

We are offering some rewards so if you donate we will give back in any way that we can!

If you donate:
€5 - €15: you will receive digital files of our recorded songs
€20 - €30: Free entry to a future concert of your choice
€100 - €200: 6 tickets to a future concert(s) of your choice
€500+ A house concert in your home (within 1 hour drive of Ballydehob)
€700+ A house concert in your home (within 3 hours drive of Ballydehob)
€1000+ A house concert in your home (anywhere in Ireland)

Please contact us when you donate or leave your email address as a note and we will be sure to follow up on each and every donation <3

We will also graciously accept donations from the heart with no expectation of a reward. You can donate anonymously if you wish.

We will be recording at Wavefield Studio in Clonakilty and have already booked our first recording dates in February and March 2024. We plan to slowly record more as funds come through to pay for studio time, mixing & mastering.

Learn more about our story here:
The members of Mamacha, who originate from Ireland, UK, Mexico and Hungary, were brought together in West Cork, united by a shared love of uplifting and creative 'music of the heart'. The word mamacha is a colloquial word for woman in Bolivia, and for the group it represents the celebration of the creative, healing and nurturing power of feminine energy through positive music.

In their early days in 2021 they were a three-piece, comprising of Mira Geluk: an Irish guitar player, singer, percussionist, dancer, and circus and fire performer, Armando Ramirez: a Mexican charango player, electric bassist, percussionist, builder and artist, and Kate Liddell: a Scottish fiddle player, brass player, singer, music teacher and world-music enthusiast. They emerged slowly from the lock-down by playing house concerts and community centres, and eventually making their way on to public stages in pubs, galleries and festivals. They played a fusion of medicine songs, Mexican folk songs, traditional tunes from Ireland and UK, and original compositions by Kate Liddell. They were given the opportunity to record two videos for the Troubadour Distillery, who record and promote local artists in Cork.

They were also recorded playing in Baltimore Castle and presented on the YouTube series Resound, by West Cork Music - an Art's Council funded initiative to promote local artists.

In 2022 they gained two new members – Lea Miklody: a Hungarian cellist, soundscape artist, and vegetable grower extraordinaire, and David Kelly: an Irish bodhran player, drum kit player and massage and sports injuries therapist. They continue to play at venues and festivals around Ireland, and in January 2023 they spent three weeks together in Spain playing, learning and co-creating music intensively. The music that emerged from their residency is extremely eclectic, touching on different genres with inspirations from different parts of the world. It draws on the bands collective skill as multi-instrumentalists, with use of vocal harmony to deliver short, mantra-like phrases. They leave room for improvisation within the structures, weaving the magic of creativity within their exploration of timbre, rhythm, and dynamics.

The majority of their current repertoire is original music composed by Kate Liddell, and developed and arranged collaboratively as a band. This music is a product of Kate's diverse musical background - from classical and brass band beginnings, to rock and reggae bands, and later to traditional world music from UK and Ireland, Europe, Africa, Mexico, South America and Indonesia, where she studied gamelan for two years in Java. The use of different kinds of scales, rhythms and time signatures is a fascinating subject for her, and is reflected in her compositions.

For Mamacha, while they have a deep respect for the preservation of music in it's pure form, the exploration and fusion of music inspired by different cultures is a shared enthusiasm, and provides a space for infinite expansion and curiosity, finding different ways to deliver the same message of peace, love, and unity of a world without borders that they express with their music. They would also like to experiment in delivering this message with different art forms, and are interested in collaborating with dancers, circus performers, visual artists and video and light projections.
