Stand Up for Mama A-D

Those of you who know Mama A-D know what a caring, compassionate person she is. Over the years she has taken in 7 children, raising them as her own, while also serving the community as a paramedic and the first female fire fighter in Allegheny County. When she was in her 30’s, my mom married the man next door on their third date… that man is who we all know and love… Coach. Together, Coach and Mama A-D make a dynamic duo. They’re love, strength and commitment is inspiring.
In 2001 Mama A-D’s health took a turn for the worse. She ended up needing multiple surgeries and has been in and out of the hospital for years. And when I say years, I mean the past 14 years. From tumors, to cancer, to pulmonary emboli, to sepsis, my mother has had the strength to pull through it all and continues to be the matriarch of our family. She recently underwent two neurosurgeries to help correct her spine so that she would be able to hold her head up… something I always took for granted. Unfortunately, these surgeries have failed, leaving Mama A-D with Chin-on-Chest Deformity. This proud woman, who spent the majority of her life with her head held high, is now unable to hold her head up at all without the use of a cervical collar. She is currently undergoing CT scans and MRI’s to have another surgery in hopes that her Chin-on-Chest Deformity can be fixed.
All the years, and all the surgeries have added up to hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical bills, her inability to work, and other everyday difficulties.
I’m asking for you to help Mama A-D, who helps so many others. If you need food, she’ll feed you, if you need a place to stay, she’ll house you, and if you need advice, she’ll give it to you whether you want it or not (sorry Ma, its true).
Thank you for your time, support and love,
Victoria
