Mama's Medical, Travel and End of Life Expenses

Donation protected
Our mom, Karen Flansburg, has always been a bright light. A free spirit, and in her words an "Old Hippy". She has always had a huge heart and goes out of her way to help anyone in need. She is always there when you need her. She has 4 of us girls (I don't know how she survived us), 3 "adoptive" sons, and 10 beautiful grandchildren who love her dearly.

In early June, mom wasn't quite herself. After lots of doctor's appointments, tests, and a hospital visit, mom was diagnosed with liver disease in Mid-June.

On July 3rd, mom was rushed to the Emergency Room and admitted to Mid Michigan Medical Center ICU where we learned that she would need a liver transplant. Mom was discharged to a Skilled Nursing and Rehab on July 8th to regain strength in preparation for a transplant. After about a week, mom started to rapidly decline. On July 21, mom was taken back to Mid Michigan and she has been in-between the ICU and Palliative Care Unit for the last week. Today we made the decision to start comfort care measures.

All of this happened at an extremely rapid and unexpected pace, with no warning, and no time to prepare. We are all still trying to process what is going on.

Between all of the trips, and just recently learning today that insurance will not cover all of her medical expenses, we are asking for some help. We know times are tough right now, but any little bit makes a difference.

Thank you for your support during this difficult time,

With love,
