I’d like to preface this explanation with saying how difficult this is to put our pride aside and ask for monetary donations. We are your average people living a comfortable life, until something unexpected like this happens. On September 20th my happy old girl was struck and ran over by a vehicle. At the emergency vet, although she was stable, she did need surgery to close up some large wounds on her lower body. Due to her age of 11 yrs old, an impact like this has made her quite uncomfortable. When all seemed to be doing okay and we anticipated she would come home the next day, she began getting sick post operatively, and more diagnostic imaging later it showed she was accumulating fluid in her stomach. She transferred to another hospital where they have placed an NG tube in her to extract the fluid as we continue to wait and see if it comes back. If fluid continues to return, another surgery, abdominal, will be warranted to save her. As one can imagine, I am beside myself with stress, as we rack up these immense expenses and try to control our emotions with the kids who keep asking about her, as they witnessed the accident. What’s worse is that with my 11 yr veterinary background, I am constantly thinking of the worst, based on things I know and have seen. We truly have to make decisions based on what we are going to be able to afford.
I have no idea what the rest of the day brings.. or tomorrow.. but what I do know is that we are opening up new credit cards to pay these up front costs, which keep accumulating with every test ran, and every new procedure recommendation. Any little bit at all… will be beyond appreciated.. there’s only so much reserves set aside for emergencies and we are well beyond that. Thank you for allowing me to be vulnerable. I love my baby girl❤️
