Hi, my name is Robert Wang (you may know me from my time on Guam Radio and also the Docomo Pacific TV on Phone guy)
I am raising funds to help my Mother recover from a hemorrhagic stroke she received on the 26th of November.
While the surgery that saved her life at Shuang-Ho Hospital was a success, the recovery phase is a lot more complicated.
Thanks to her Taiwanese citizenship, the Government is able to pay the bill for her stay in a nursing home while she continues to recover. While a nursing home guarantees she'll be looked after in my absence, the staff is only able to provide the bare minimum of care. No physical therapy or stimulation to aid in her recovery.
The doctors say that at minimum, she has a recovery period of about 6 months. I am aware that the goal for this campaign would not be able to care for her fully during that time, but it would be enough of a head-start (no pun intended) to get her into a rehabilitation facility or hire a live-in nurse.
In addition to this campaign, I am able to send at least $500 dollars a month to Taiwan for her care at minimum, and the funds from this page will buy extra time in order to find the full amount needed to get her back on her feet.
Throughout my life, I've always been complimented for my voice, and my mother's involvement in that development was huge. I'd like to use this skill-set to the benefit of you, the donor. As a thank you, you can reach out to me and I’ll read a page from your favorite book. Something that reminds you of your own parents or childhood.
Whether or not you're able to donate, if you are unsure what will happen should the unexpected happens to a loved one, please take the time to talk to them to hash out a plan in the event of an emergency. My mother had no plan, and the legal logistics of trying to navigate through that is something I wouldn't want anyone to ever go through. In the past, I've brushed away those thoughts thinking I had decades worth of time. I've learned through this event that the worst can happen at any time. Speaking of, I'd like to thank you for the amount of time you've invested in looking over these words and sharing in this experience. I wish you and your family the best this Holiday Season. Please take care.
-Robert Wang
